Breaking news on some Tv channels
Aajtak: Pita hi hai kaatil
Headlines Today: Headlines today cracks Aarushi murder mystery
Ndtv: Aarushi killed by her own father
.......
Some examples of how news channels draw its own conclusions even before the case has been presented in front of the judiciary.
Saw the Press conference the other day. The IG did not even know who was killed. He did not even know her name. Kept calling her Shruti. Noida Police have thrown themselves in a weird position now. The IGs statement was contradictory. On one hand he said that Aarushi was aware of her fathers extra marital affair and on the other hand he said that Aarushis father caught her in an objectionable position with the servant. I feel sorry for Noida Police and more so for the beautifully designed news channels we have in this country.
I hold the news channels responsible for spoiling a familys life. Why do they have their reporters stationed 24 X 7 outside Mr talwars house? Are they waiting for Nupur Talwar to commit suicide so that they can get some more spicy content out of it? Havent they got enough content as it is? Will these channels apologise to the nation if Mr talwar is held not guilty in this case?
The other day Nupur Talwar was interviewed by Ndtv. Other channels started analyzing this interview. Some said that Nupur Talwar did not even shed a tear so may be she's also involved. Now if she cries it would make 'great footage' and if she doesnt then shes also involved in the killing. When will this trial by media end?
I agree that each news channels has its own TG but there a lot of other people who are watching them apart from that defined TG. Are the news channels going to be punished for showing such irresponsible content on air? Is there a content code for news channels? If there is, are they following it? Who is keeping a tab on it? Do we all love watching anchors making a fool of themselves on headlines today? Do we like Khali so much that we don't want to know anything happening around the world? Are these really news channels or entertainment channels? Is there ever gonna be ONE reporter or a journalist who would put his/her foot down and say that i don't want to be stationed outside somebodys house throughout the day?
Will we ever get answers to these questions? I guess not!
If this is what news channels have to offer then i thank my stars that im in radio not TV.

Content is King!
Will private fm radio stations continue to air endless chatter that is devoid of quality content? Is music the only reason people tune into radio? Do the listeners want to hear shows that make value addition to their life? Can we make radio an appointment medium and not just a non intrusive, low involvement medium … just something that plays in the background? Therez a long way to go….
Every time you hear the familiar twang of radio jockeys, trying to deliver breathlessly the best they can in the shortest possible time, trying to sound as funny and cheerful as possible. Or every time you hear that same old bollywood mimickery ad break, or the “wannabe” funny, self proclaimed kings of comedy; you quickly switch to the station that’s playing music.
My point is that if we as radio people push the bar for the kind of content we provide while R.Js talk, then people will not switch off, rather get hooked on to the station. If R.Js talk about social issues which affect you and me, intellectually stimulating and opinion generating issues then will people switch off? I believe however uneducated or unaware a person is, he or she has strong opinions about something, be it power cuts, working mothers or rising prices. I am sure people don’t always want to hear about love problems, bollywood gossip or cricket! At least this way radio stations will land up sounding different from one another… for the kind of stuff they talk about. If they all continue playing the same music, same ads, talking about the same stuff, then god help the CEOs, COOs, stake holders and whoever else directly bears the brunt of competition!
